****Are you searching for an activity that is FULFILLING and LIFE CHANGING!?****
It's time... Begin the MILE CHALLENGE!
The CHALLENGE: Run a mile today/everyday (and gradually reduce your time over the next year).
The BENEFITS: Running the mile produces superior health, weight loss and emotional well being.
The run a mile movement is growing. To combat childhood obesity, which currently stands at 1/3 of all children and about 2/3rds of all adults in America and England, St. Ninians elementary school began a program requiring all students to run a mile everyday. They've done this for 4 years and now there isn't a single overweight student. Over 500 schools in Scotland and England have now taken up this mile running program and it appears that it may be implemented in all of their schools soon.
Even Mark Zuckerberg, the owner of Facebook, has recently issued this mile challenge to 45 million Facebook users. Starting Jan. 1, 2016 he has been running a mile a day and encouraging everyone to run a mile daily (which is 365 miles for the year).
Medical studies show that running a mile (running for even just 5 to 10 minutes a day), makes a huge difference in health and longevity.
Start easy and make it fun. Don't worry about running fast. If you're really out of shape you may need to just walk a mile at first. Then gradually just run more and more of the mile between your walking.
The first goal is just to record your mile time (even if it takes you 15 or 20 minutes). Eventually. for most women, you should be able to get down to under a 10 minute mile. Most guys should be able to get down to under an 8 minute mile. If you're in your 40's or above, you may need to add extra minutes to those times. Just make sure to run regularly (preferably daily, or at least 5 days a week).
Go out now and measure off a mile close to your home, find a nearby track or substitute a treadmill for running. You can do this. Let's start TODAY! (and kindly encourage some friends to run the mile too)
And don't think you're too old. The first video below shows Edward running a 5:38 minute mile at 61 years old (down from 5:54 four weeks before), and Shenteria running a 7:30 minute mile (down from about 10 minutes just a few months before).
NOTE: The track has been open until about 7 PM but text us at 5:30 when we arrive at the track so we can inform you for sure that it's open (Tel. 435-669-6615)
