Hi, I'm Edward. My fiancée, Shenteria (Shay), and I realized how great it is to run at least a mile a day (and all of the benefits). So we started this website to motivate you to do the simple action of just running a mile a day. You'll begin noticing all kinds of positive effects, such as weight loss, better emotional well being and self-esteem. You'll also get into the excitement and magic of the "run a mile a day movement" that is spreading across America and Great Britain.
35 years ago, at age 26, I committed to making my body/health my number one priority. This was my best decision ever! It continues to pay me great benefits in health and well being. My goal is to motivate you in whatever way I can. So besides the great health and even mental benefits, I also want to tell you that when you get in good shape yourself, you don't need to be envious of others (almost 70% of American adults are overweight now). You will be obtaining something they don't have, a healthier, lower fat body- AND you'll have a lot more energy. This is priceless! Just run a mile a day, like the children at St. Ninians elementary school, who are ALL now no longer overweight.
I love motivating others to improve their health, like my fiancée, who has lowered her mile time from about 10:30 minutes in 2015 to running a 7:49 minute mile today (August 17, 2016). I'll just mention that she did quickly lose 20 pounds last year (which she has easily maintained now for over a year) and her resting heart rate has decreased from 88 beats a minute down to just 66. She also says it gives her a real feeling of accomplishment and she's excited to further lower her mile times.

Edward: The best mile I ever officially ran was a mile in a preseason high school meet just before my 18th birthday. It was 5:09 minutes. Later when I was 29, and again when I was 34, I ran the equivalent of a 4:50 minute mile when I ran the 1,500 meters in 4:30 minutes. This 4:50 minutes just happens to be about the time I would now need to set a world record in the mile for the 60 to 64 year old age group which is 4:51.8.
On July 11, 2016 I decided to really start challenging my mile times again. I ran a hard 5:45 minute mile on the treadmill, and the next day.August 9, I ran a hard 5:54 minute mile at the UNLV track. On Aug. 7, I ran a hard 5:15 minute mile on the treadmill- and on Aug. 17, I ran a fairly easy 5:48 minute mile on the UNLV track and a fairly easy 5:38 mile on August 23. I will be posting ongoing results. I hope this might be inspiring to you (a 61 year old doing this) and for you to feel that you can get yourself in much better shape than you currently are. My goal is to better the mile world record of 4:51 minutes by the end of November, 2016.
Shay: I was only running about 10:30 minutes for the mile in 2015 on the treadmill. My times were down around 8 minutes to usually 8:30 minutes by June of 2016 and on August 9, I ran 7:47 minute mile on the treadmill. I ran my first timed mile on the track on August 17 in 7:49 minutes, and on Aug. 23 I ran it in 7:30 minute. I ran a 7:08 mile on the treadmill on August 25 and again on Sept. 2 at my fastest, 6:58 minute mile. In speed training I ran a fast 75 seconds in the 1/4 mile/400 meters at the track on August 31, 2016.
